How do you compare an everyday CPAP machine with a travel CPAP?

Start with your prescribed therapy, then compare the complete setup. A smaller machine may use different tubing, mask connections, humidification or power accessories. Confirm everything needed for your exact model before purchasing.

Everyday and travel CPAP comparison checklist
Compare Everyday setup Travel setup
Therapy Match the prescribed device type and features. Confirm the travel model supports your prescribed therapy.
Mask and tubing Check the manufacturer's compatibility list for the exact model. Check for required setup packs, tubing or mask-specific connections.
Humidification Confirm the supplied water chamber and compatible heated tubing, if applicable. Compare the model's humidification method and compatible components.
Power Confirm the included power supply. Check voltage, adapters and any model-approved battery or DC accessories for the trip.
Included items Confirm the machine, chamber, tubing, mask and filters listed in the package. Confirm the full travel setup rather than comparing machine-only prices.

AirSense 11 AutoSet or AirMini: which setup fits your routine?

Check compatibility before switching machines

ResMed advises checking the specific mask's compatibility with AirSense 11. AirMini uses a model-specific setup, so do not assume that your everyday tubing and mask arrangement transfers directly. Confirm the current compatible mask and setup pack with the manufacturer and our team.

How do you choose replacement mask parts?

Match the part to the exact mask model and selected size. A product called a cushion, frame or headgear may be a replacement component rather than a complete mask.

  1. Find the brand and full model name on the mask or its packaging.
  2. Check which component needs replacing and its size marking.
  3. Compare the manufacturer's part number with the product listing.
  4. Check what is included, especially whether headgear, clips, elbow or frame are sold separately.
  5. Ask us to confirm compatibility if the model, size or part number is unclear.

Mask styles include nasal pillows, nasal masks and full-face masks. How you breathe during sleep, your fit and your prescribed setup can affect the options to discuss with your care team. A recommendation category is a starting point for comparison, not a guarantee of fit. Explore masks and supplies.

What should you know about cleaning CPAP equipment?

Follow the cleaning instructions for each exact component. Masks, tubing, humidifier chambers and filters can have different care and replacement requirements. Check the manufacturer's manual before washing or replacing an item, and do not assume a disposable filter is washable. Keep the model and part number available when ordering replacements.

Home or portable oxygen concentrator: what should you compare?

Match the oxygen delivery mode and output to your prescription before comparing size or convenience. A portable concentrator is not automatically a substitute for a home unit.

Oxygen concentrator comparison checklist
Compare Home use Portable use
Delivery mode Confirm the prescribed flow and the model's supported output. Confirm whether the model provides pulse dose, continuous flow or both.
Power Review electrical requirements and your clinician's plan for interruptions. Compare battery duration at the required setting, charging time and power options.
Moving the equipment Check dimensions, weight, placement instructions and tubing compatibility. Check operating weight with the battery and carrying accessories.
Travel Plan around the equipment's intended use and available power. Confirm the model's travel requirements and check directly with your airline before flying.

A pulse-dose setting is not the same as a continuous-flow rate in liters per minute. Inogen explains that a pulse is measured in milliliters per breath rather than liters per minute. Do not use the same number on a different machine as a presumed equivalent setting; have your prescribed requirements checked for the exact device.

Manufacturer reference: Inogen's pulse-dose versus continuous-flow explanation, checked November 2, 2026. Compare available oxygen concentrators.

Should you rent or buy respiratory equipment?

Compare the complete rental and purchase quotes for equipment that matches your prescribed needs. Ask about the rental period, included supplies, pickup or delivery, return arrangements and current availability. Confirm which items are personal supplies sold separately.
